THE IES POLITECNIC: PRESENTATION, COMMITMENTS AND OBJECTIVES FOR ITS ERASMUS ACTIVITIES

The IES Politecnic is a state school within the Local Education Authority of the Generalitat Valenciana which teaches the official curriculum. The Higher Grade Vocational Training Courses taught in the school are Car Mechanics, Electronic Product Development, Electrical Installations ( day and evening classes), Industrial Equipment Maintenance, Mechanised production, Carpentry and Furniture Making, Prevention of Industrial Risks,

Telecommunication ( afternoon and distance learning courses). The aim of each one of these courses is to attain professional qualifications. The school also organises the training in work places in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and the companies where the training is carried out.

During the last academic year as well as the present one we have been able to see

the great demand for mobility that our students in Higher Grade courses have. Therefore, we have applied for the Extended Eramus Carta, especially as these students are excluded from the Leonardo da Vinci programme, after the introduction of the new On-going Learning Programme. The IES Politecnic has already agreed on the aims which

should take precedence throughout the activity. In this sense, we are aware that one of the main topics of debate worldwide has been that of the role of international cooperation in education as a worthwhile and strategic instrument to improve education. Therefore, the IES Politecnic is committed to providing access to new pedagogical and didactic ideas, and promoting them to favour the acquisition of practical knowledge, competence and skills for

communication, creative and critical analysis, independent thought and team work in multicultural contexts, where creativity requires combining theoretical and practical or local knowledge with the latest developments in science or technology. Furthermore, great importance is given to the international experience of students and teaching staff, for their professional development as well as their linguistic capabilities and their appreciation of different cultural realities.


MESURES TO ENSURE THE HIGH QUALITY OF STUDENTS PLACEMENTS

 

The IES Politecnic is the school which has the most agreements formally signed with companies in the Valencian Autonomous Region. Our students carry out their training in more than 500 companies.This proves our commitment to support the quality of our vocational training.Our center has a cooperation agreement with the Chamber of

Commerce.It is our commitment to bring this experience to the international workplace mobility objectives in order to carry out training in companies trough the Erasmus project. Therefore we have developed a protocol adapted for this objective which coordinates all the involved parties: the student, the class teacher tutor, the tutor in the host educational center and the training instructor in the workplace. At first partnerships with foreign European companies will be drawn up through Nova College in Holland, as we already have a cooperation agreement with them. We are also studying how to establish contact with new European countries through partnerships with new institutions, as members of the network are supposed to help each other to establish new contacts in both, accademical and profesional environment.The web portal of IES Politecnic for European programms is a very useful tool to coordinate this, thus the network will help to offer a wide range of training in all types of industry.The educational

staff will value which is the most suitable country and workplace according to the student's profile and proceed to take the appropiate steps. Once in the workplace, the student´s activities will be registered in an activity sheet which will serve the tutor in the workplace to evaluate his/her training. When possible, we'll ask for the Europass mobility document to register the student´s training. Finally, if the assesment is positive, the student achieves the Official Degree in his/her Vocational Studies. This assesment will also be useful to evaluate the process carried out by the educational staff in order to improve its quality.
